Scott Andrew, Bingham County Prosecuting Attorney

Scott has been the elected prosecuting attorney for Bingham County since January 2001.  He was born and raised in Idaho.  A 1985 graduate of Jerome High School, he later graduated, cum laude, in 1990 from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and minors in Interpersonal Communications, Public Law and American Government. He went on to graduate from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1993 with a juris doctorate degree.  He has been a member of the Idaho State Bar and a member of the bar of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho since 1993.   He has argued before the Idaho Supreme Court and the Federal Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  He spent two years as the law clerk to District Judge James C. Herndon, five years as a deputy in the Bingham County Prosecutor's Office, and one year in private practice before taking office as the Bingham County Prosecuting Attorney.

Darren Simpson, Chief Deputy

Darren has been the Chief Deputy under both Carter Mackley and Scott Andrew.  He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1982.  Darren obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the Utah State University in 1990 and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Idaho in 1995.  He has been a member of the Idaho State Bar and a member of the bar of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho since 1995.  He served as a deputy public defender in Bannock County for three years, was in private practice for two years, and served as a deputy prosecutor in Bingham County for seven months before becoming the chief deputy.

Lary Sisson, Deputy

Lary has been a deputy prosecutor in Bingham County since August of 2000.  He moved to Bingham County from Kansas in 1999.  Lary graduated from Brigham Young University in 1993 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Japanese.  He graduated in 1999 with a juris doctorate degree from Washburn University.  He has been a member of the Idaho State Bar and a member of the bar of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho since 2000.  He worked in private practice, including part-time public defender work for approximately a year before become a deputy in the prosecutor's office.  In January 2002, Lary was appointed to be the Butte County Prosecuting Attorney.  He continues to work part-time for the Bingham County Prosecutor's Office until such time as the office can fill the vacancy created by his appointment in Butte County.

Mike Dean, Deputy

Dean is our newest addition to the office.  He started with the prosecutor's office in August of 2002.  Mike moved to Bingham County from Moscow, Idaho.  Mike originates from the Seattle, Washington area.  He graduated from Brigham Young Utah University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  He later graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2002 with a juris doctorate degree.  He has been a member of the Idaho State Bar and a member of the bar of the United States District Court for the District of Idaho since September 2002.

Barbara Mortensen, Office Manager/Secretary

Barbara has been a secretary in the prosecutor's office since 1989.  She served as a secretary for Reid Larsen (prior county prosecuting attorney) both part-time and full-time when Mr. Larsen was in private practice and when Mr. Larsen was the prosecutor for the cities of Blackfoot and Shelley.  She joined the county prosecuting attorney's office while Tom Moss was prosecuting attorney. She is a past treasurer for the Idaho Victim-Witness Association and helped draft the model policy and procedure plan for the Association.  As the office manager, she handles claims, budget items and other administrative matters.  She has secretarial responsibilities for the elected prosecutor and the chief deputy.  Her primary case load involves violent crimes against people (e.g., homicides, aggravated battery, etc.) and felony drug offenses.

Bridget Bird, Secretary

Bridget started as a secretary in the prosecutor's office in December 1997.  She has attended Ricks College as well as Idaho State University School of Applied Technology where she received Legal Secretary and Information Processing certificates.  She also has past experience working for a local law firm.  Bridget's primary responsibilities are the handling of juvenile prosecutions (felony and misdemeanors) and felony prosecutions involving property crimes.

Susan Nalley, Secretary

Susan has been a full time secretary with the prosecutor's office since March 1998.  Before that, she worked full-time for the Bingham Crisis Center for approximately a year, although she was a volunteer with the Center for several years before becoming an employee.  Susan worked part-time for the prosecutor's office under Tom Moss.  Susan's primary case assignments are cases involving victims of domestic violence and crimes against children (sexual and physical abuse of children).

Lori Jorgensen, Secretary

Lori has been a secretary in the prosecutor's office since 2000.  Prior to coming to the prosecutor's office, she was a dispatcher with the Bingham County Sheriff's Office for two years and was a reserve deputy for the Sheriff's Office for three years prior to being employed.  Before working as a dispatcher, she worked for the Blackfoot School District for two years.  She spent two years as a secretary in a private law firm in Blackfoot as well.  Lori's primary responsibilities are for the misdemeanors, infractions and felony traffic offenses.
